Companies Find Unique Ways To Use Facebook Pages

Solomon Thimothy - August 16, 2010

social mediaLast week, Delta Airlines launched a new feature on their Facebook page that allows fans to book flights without leaving the fan page.

The new feature, which will also be coming to Delta’s display ads on various news and publisher sites, has an arrow consumers can click and then it will expand a window on the website they are currently on.

On the Facebook page, there is a “Book a Flight” tab that will asks users to allow the app to have access to their basic information, like most other Facebook apps. Then, the fan will see a ticket window directly on the Facebook page.

Delta is not the first company to use a Facebook page to encourage ecommerce transactions. 1-800 Flowers has a similar feature where you can shop directly in the Facebook page.

If you have a Facebook fan page as well as an ecommerce website, look at different ways you can promote your products and increase your sales.

  • Create direct links to your products and services
  • Highlight specific products that relate to your Facebook demographics
  • Discuss sales and specials going on at your company
  • Encourage fans to discuss their favorite products
  • Post the latest product reviews on your Facebook page.

As social media websites continue to grow, it is important to create a presence for your brand or company that provides more opportunities for your customers to connect with you. Don’t be afraid to try out new and innovative ideas with your social networking websites.
